Blood Broth Overday Oats

Staff Recipe

Feed your needs, the modern way. Pop this in the fridge while you sleep! In the evening, this delicious breakfast will be waiting.

Ingredients

  • 1 c old-fashioned oats

  • 1 c blood broth (recipe below)

  • 1/4 c black pumpkin seeds or pistachios

  • 1 orange, supremed and sliced

Directions

  1. Place the oats in a large bowl. They will expand, so leave plenty of room.

  2. Pour blood broth (recipe below) slowly over your oats. Stir until well combined. Incorporating well at this stage will help prevent coagulation issues.

  3. Add supremed orange slices to allow the flavors to mingle. They will soak up the broth.

  4. Refrigerate overday, or at least 8 hours.

  5. In the evening, top with black pumpkin seeds or pistachios.

  6. Enjoy! There’s no reason we can’t be civilized about this.

Blood Broth

  • 1/2 c fresh blood (your choice)

  • 1/2 c vegetable broth

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  1. Drain 1/2 cup of blood from your source. Remove any flesh, skin, or hair.

  2. Warm in a saucepan over medium-low heat until it reaches 98 degrees. Depending on the freshness of the source, you may be able to skip this step.

  3. Add the turmeric and vegetable broth.

  4. Allow the mixture to reach 98 degrees again, stirring constantly.

Note on sourcing: The quality of your blood source will affect the final dish! For best results, free-range and well-fed sources are desired.
